Yes, attending a VMware course is *REQUIRED* in order to get VCP5-DCV certification. Some people can opt to take the exam and pass it then, take a course online that is substantially less than classroom courses.
As long as it is VMware curriculum and approved, then it will qualify for VCP5-DCV cert.

Still very much valid in the UK.

VMware have announced that they will be rolling out another new certification for VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) to be launched on the 13th Sep. There is a possibility that they could start to roll out the new 4.1 exam also but that's just speculation it could be a number of weeks yet.

It's my understanding that the exam centres download the questions directly from VMware on the day of the exam so the likelihood is once the first reports come through that the exam is invalid anywhere in the world then everyone else may experience the same soon after. As of day this dump is 100% valid even through I don't agree with a few of the answers but i passed with a very high mark all the same.
